Hakimi

October 25, (THEWILL) — Paris Saint-Germain returned to the summit of Ligue 1 following a convincing 3-0 victory over Brest at Stade Francis-Le Blé. Captain Achraf Hakimi netted twice for the reigning champions, whilst Désiré Doué added a third deep into stoppage time.

The opening exchanges saw opportunities at both ends. Junior Dina Ebimbe’s cutback found Pathé Mboup in the area, but the forward directed his shot straight at Lucas Chevalier. Radosław Majecki kept out Senny Mayulu at the opposite end before Hakimi opened the scoring just before the half-hour. Vitinha’s lofted delivery picked out the Morocco international at the far post, and his volley beat the goalkeeper.

Hakimi doubled the advantage six minutes before the interval when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s mishit shot fell favourably for the right-back to fire into the top-right corner. Brest struggled to threaten in a subdued second period, though they were handed a lifeline when Lee Kang-In was penalised for handball after a prolonged VAR review.

Romain Del Castillo stepped up to take the spot-kick but lost his footing on the turf and sent the ball high over the crossbar. PSG controlled the remainder of the contest, with Doué hitting the woodwork on two occasions in the closing stages.

The young forward finally found the net in the sixth minute of added time. Warren Zaïre-Emery threaded a pass through the defence, and Doué fired past Majecki to complete the scoring and seal three points for the capital club.
