May 14, (THEWILL) – American actress and singer Halle Bailey has obtained a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, over allegations of domestic abuse and concerns for the safety of their child.
The court order, issued on Tuesday, mandates DDG to remain at least 100 yards away from Bailey and their son until a hearing scheduled for June 6.
In her filings, Bailey detailed a series of disturbing incidents, including a January altercation during which DDG allegedly slammed her face into a steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth. She also described a March incident where he reportedly entered her home without permission and sent her a photo of her bed accompanied by a threatening message implying she was seeing other men.
Bailey further alleged that DDG destroyed a security camera, forcefully seized her phone, and slammed a car door on her while she was holding their baby. A police report was filed following that incident.
The Little Mermaid star also accused the rapper of using his social media platforms to harass her, which she said led to threats from some of his followers. The court has additionally barred DDG from possessing firearms.
Bailey, who is known for her Grammy-nominated music and lead role in Disney’s live-action remake, dated DDG from 2022 until their breakup in 2023.
The restraining order could be extended for up to five years, pending the outcome of next month’s court hearing.
