July 06, (THEWILL) – Hong Kong born American singer cum actress, Coco Lee, is dead. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Lee’s death is as a result of suicide.
She was found on Wednesday, unresponsive in her apartment in Los Angeles.
Her sisters, Carol and Nancy, took to Facebook to share the bad news, stating that the singer had been battling depression, though she sought professional help, but her situation deteriorated a few months ago.
“With great sadness, we are here to break the most devastating news: Coco had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months.
“Although Coco sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly, that demon inside of her took the better of her”, they wrote.
Lee was the first Chinese singer signed by Sony Music globally. She also was the voice behind the heroine, Fa Mulan, in the Mandarin version of Disney’s ‘Mulan’, where she also sang the theme song.
