June 21, (THEWILL)- Popular American actor and comedian, has opened up on how a string of public scandals affected his family.
Hart disclosed this on Sunday with fellow actor, Will Smith, on Red Table Talk Show on Sunday, saying that the scandals on his extra-marital affair and the controversy surrounding past homophobic comments created a fraught relationship between himself and Heaven, his 16-year-old daughter.
THEWILL recalls that in 2017, Hart apologised to his family after he claimed that someone was trying to blackmail him over a video showing him with another woman.
A year later, shortly after the comedian was announced as the host of the year’s Oscar Awards, some social media users had revealed few of his old tweets perceived to contain homophobic slurs.
Hart had come under intense criticism, which made him to bow out of the annual award event that he had tagged as an “opportunity of a lifetime.’
Although Hart had since responded with an apology to the LGBTQ community concerning his “insensitive words,” the issues from the episode seem to still haunt him.
In the 45-minute chat with Will, Hart stated that the period made him realise the impact of his popularity towards his immediate family.
The comedian said: “My talk with [my daughter] Heaven… that was one like no other.
“Getting my daughter back, getting my daughter to understand that I was sorry, that I made a mistake; that was real… Until this day, my daughter is tough on me.
“My daughter was so upset because she couldn’t process how people could think this about her father. And it was so tough because this was when I started to realize how my fame has an impact on my household.”
