June 21, (THEWILL)- Pep Guardiola has signalled his intentions for the next season as the current champions of the English Premier League champions Manchester City reportedly submitted a £100 million transfer bid to Tottenham for serial goal-scorer Harry Kane, whose inclusion in the current setup at the Etihad will make the Cityzens a tough side to beat.

THEWILL recalls that the 28-year-old has not hidden his intentions to seek better fortunes outside of his boyhood north London club after all these many years of only individual accolades and non-team achievements with Spurs.

In the seven years of his professional career at Tottenham, Kane has not won a major trophy. Yet, in that same period, his talent has never been in question, because he ended the seasons 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2020/2021 as the deserved winner of the Golden Boot award.

Kane matched the record of two inductees to the nascent EPL Hall of Fame in Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer this year after emerging as the 2020-2021 season’s Golden Boot winner as well as carting home the Playmaker awards with the highest number of assists. Yet, there still is no trophy to show for all these efforts.

That is why City’s interest is noteworthy as is the fact that the England captain was valued at £100 million by the Citizens board after their veteran striker, Sergio Kun Aguero left on a free transfer to Barcelona at the end of the previous season. There was not enough in City’s other strikers, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres, to give Guardiola faith.

With a player of Kane’s status in his side, Guardiola can challenge on all fronts as long as they keep his injury-free all season. Kane has demonstrated an aptitude for goal-scoring as he averaged double-digit goals for Spurs in seven consecutive seasons while hitting over 20 goals five times even though the team did not clinch a major trophy in that time.

He has been targeted by big names since his intention to exit north London made the news. The likes of Chelsea, La Liga’s Real Madrid and Ligue 1’s Paris Saint Germain all are interested in his services but they will have to beat the City’s bid for a chance with the financial crunch presently affecting teams due to the pandemic.

There is no indication of how Spurs will respond to the juicy offer but it was reported that Kane had informed Daniel Levy, Spurs’ Executive Chairman, that he would love to remain in England because his family and City’s offer gives him that choice plus the promise of finally lifting a major trophy in his career.
