November 12, (THEWILL) – Nigerian gospel singer, Dare Melody, has opened up about the maltreatment his late wife, Adedoyin, endured at the hands of his family members.
He shared his painful experience of how she was subjected to unfair treatment during their time together, revealing the emotional toll it took on her before her passing.
Adedoyin passed away in October at the age of 47.
During the wake, Melody spoke emotionally about the challenges his wife faced, revealing that his family had caused her considerable distress.
He went on to praise her steadfast support, particularly during the tough times in his career.
He shared a poignant memory of how a music promoter had blacklisted him for four years, severely hindering his professional progress. Despite these struggles, Adedoyin remained by his side, offering unwavering loyalty and love.
As a gesture of gratitude for her devotion, Melody built Adedoyin a house.
“But I will always hold her close and tell her, ‘Adedoyin, you married me, and whenever you’re with me, put your mind at ease.’ She was there for me, through all the hard times, whether or not we had food on the table.
“I’ll never forget a time when a promoter, who initially seemed kind, took me out and then turned around to blacklist me.
”He instructed that none of my songs should be played on the radio or even printed for nearly four years. I was powerless in the situation, but my late wife never left my side.
“While everyone else was celebrating the New Year, I spent it eating biscuits with her and our one-year-old daughter.
“I prayed to God, saying, ‘If you are truly the one who called me, let people know it.
“God assured me that I would release a record in 2010, which turned out to be ‘Goodness and Mercy.
“That song gave my career a new life, and suddenly, people began to notice me. God made a way for me, and I started constructing a house.
“One day, a friend called and said, This woman has always supported you; let’s build a house for her.
”I responded, ‘Everything I have is for her.’’
