November 05, (THEWILL) – Nigerian international, Paul Onuachu, has admitted that his 6’7″ frame gives him an edge in aerial battles, but stressed that he has excellent technical ability with his feet as well. The 28-year-old striker, currently on loan at Turkish club, Trabzonspor, from English side, Southampton, scored with a textbook header in his side’s 3-2 win against Fenerbahçe on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, Onuachu acknowledged his height was an asset, but claimed he was even more talented with the ball at his feet. “I am tall and you can also see that I use it sometimes, but I also have a lot of qualities with my feet even better than my head,” he stated.
The former FC Midtjylland man has been in lethal form this season, netting 4 goals in 7 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig. Only Edin Džeko has scored more, highlighting that there is more to Onuachu’s game than just aerial prowess.
With his loan move, the 28-year-old has regained his confidence after a difficult spell at Southampton. Onuachu will be hoping his goalscoring exploits can earn him a permanent deal in Turkey and cement his place in Nigeria’s plans ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
