September 07, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress, Opeyemi Aiyeola, has publicly addressed the circulating reports about fellow actor, Ibrahim Chatta’s recent loss, providing clarity on the situation.
Earlier reports had indicated that Chatta was mourning his biological son, following a heartfelt message he posted on Instagram. The post read:
“Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ.”
However, in a statement posted to her Instagram account on Sunday, Aiyeola clarified that the deceased was not Chatta’s biological child, but a godson whom he loved as his own.
She wrote, “Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson who is also like a son to him. May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully. It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy.”
This clarification was later confirmed by a review of Ibrahim Chatta’s Instagram page, which showed the actor had edited his original post to clearly identify the departed as his godson.
Aiyeola also prayed for strength and comfort for the grieving family and urged the public to show compassion during this painful time.
