Idris Ajimobi, son of late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau.
Ajimobi had contested for a seat in Ibadan South West State Constituency II on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the 2023 generalpoll but lost to the opposition. Honourable Oluwafemi Fowokanmi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defeated Ajimobi with a total of 16, 328 votes while Ajimobi, had 7,755 votes. Many thought Ajimobi, son of a political gladiator would have cleared almost all votes because of his late father’s influence and good will but were shocked by his defeat. His failure at the polls was blamed on the strictness of his late father during his latter days in office.
