
November 11, (THEWILL) – Ikorodu City earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Katsina United in a Nigerian Professional Football League match on Sunday. The match saw a closely contested first half that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Both teams demonstrated commendable skill and determination throughout the ninety minutes.
Moses Effiong opened the scoring for Katsina United in the 22nd minute, giving his team an early lead.
However, Emmanuel Solomon equalised for Ikorodu City just before half-time, scoring in the 45+2nd minute.
The second half proved to be equally dramatic, with Solomon netting the winning goal in the 89th minute to take the three points for his team.
This win moves Ikorodu City up the NPFL table. They currently occupy 12th position with 14 points from 11 matches, having won four, drawn two, and lost five games.
Katsina United, on the other hand, sits in 17th place with 12 points from an identical number of matches.
The victory is a considerable boost for Ikorodu City’s hopes of climbing the standings.
United will need to improve their performance in subsequent matches to avoid slipping further down the table.
