Milan

April 03, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan and AC Milan played out a 1-1 draw in the initial leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final contest on Wednesday. The result leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the return fixture later this month.

The deadlock was broken shortly after half-time when Tammy Abraham put AC Milan in front. The striker finished with precision past goalkeeper Josep Martínez in the 47th minute, following good work from Youssouf Fofana who provided the assist.

Inter equalised after 67 minutes through Hakan Calhanoglu, who scored against his former club. The midfielder struck an impressive long-range effort that found the bottom-left corner of the net, bringing the scores level at the San Siro.

AC Milan nearly claimed a late winner when Rafael Leao created an opportunity, but his attempt did not result in a goal. Both teams must now wait for the second leg to determine which side will progress to the final.

In the other semi-final played on Tuesday, Bologna established a commanding position with a 3-0 victory over Empoli in their first leg encounter. The winners of both ties will meet in the Coppa Italia final later in the season.
