October 19, (THEWILL) — Ange-Yoan Bonny’s sixth-minute strike handed Inter Milan a 1-0 victory over Roma at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, lifting the Nerazzurri above Napoli to the top of Serie A. The reigning champions had lost earlier in the day at Torino, creating an opportunity that Inter seized through Bonny’s clinical finish.
The forward broke the offside trap to meet Nicolo Barella’s perfectly weighted pass, slotting the ball beyond Mile Svilar at the near post. Roma offered little threat before half-time, failing to test Yann Sommer with a single effort on target during a lacklustre opening 45 minutes.

Inter nearly added a second when Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first-time attempt struck the upright with six minutes remaining. The Nerazzurri held firm despite Roma’s late pressure, their early goal proving sufficient to claim all three points.
The result moved Inter to the Serie A summit, capitalising on Napoli’s earlier slip-up to take the top spot. Roma remain frustrated after failing to convert their second-half chances into an equaliser at the Olimpico.
