Powerlifting

March 19, (THEWILL) – The International Paralympic Committee has imposed a four-year ban on Nigerian para powerlifter, Omotola Eniola Falodun, after she failed a drug test.

The presence of forbidden steroids was discovered in an in-competition urine sample supplied by Falodun on February 6, 2020.

The chemicals in question were the anabolic steroids 19-norandrosterone and 19-noretiocholanolone, which are both banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and are used to quickly grow muscle mass.

The day before the sample was taken, Falodun was competing in the World Para Powerlifting World Cup in Abuja, Nigeria.

Falodun came in 81st place overall and was the 24th best female in the field, scoring 115 points. She will be ineligible to participate until February 5, 2024 as a result of the anti-doping rule infraction.

Any results, medals, points, and rewards earned by the powerlifter prior to the collection of the sample, will be nullified or forfeited.
