August 14, (THEWILL) — Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has spoken candidly about the profound impact of losing his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in a tragic drowning accident in October 2022.
During a recent interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, the singer described the incident as life-changing, revealing how it reshaped his outlook on life and career.
“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back on my career gave me a refocus on how I wanted to move forward. It changed my life”, Davido stated.
He expressed pride in the resilience he and his wife, Chioma, demonstrated, noting that their strength has inspired others facing hardships.
“I know how many who randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them in hard times.
“I was telling my wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we have twins. They are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the loss of our son and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge”, he added.
The singer’s heartfelt reflection highlights both personal grief and the unexpected role his family’s resilience has played in uplifting others.
