July 29, (THEWILL) — Oscar-winning actor and musician, Jared Leto, who won an Academy Award for “Dallas Buyers Club” and is also known for “Suicide Squad” and “Blade Runner 2049”, is facing fresh sexual misconduct allegations in the new BBC documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret”, released on Wednesday.
The documentary features interviews with 10 women, nine of whom are speaking publicly for the first time. They allege they encountered Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s.
Four of the women accuse Leto of criminal sexual conduct. One alleges she was sexually assaulted in a Las Vegas motel room when she was 17. Another claims Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19 after she was left alone with him in a London hotel room.
A third woman alleges she had sex with Leto in California when she was 17, which, if proven, would amount to statutory rape under California law because the state’s age of consent is 18.
A fourth alleges Leto groomed her through repeated sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16 and later sent her a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which she says she refused to sign.
Four other women told the BBC they also received sexually explicit phone calls from Leto when they were younger. Another woman alleged that when she was 14, Leto made a lewd comment about her chest during an autograph signing and instructed a security guard to take her backstage at a music festival.
The BBC said it verified parts of several accounts using photographs, text messages, and interviews with friends and family members who were told about the alleged incidents at the time. Two former crew members of Thirty Seconds to Mars also told the documentary they were uncomfortable with Leto’s interactions with teenage girls, including inviting them backstage or to the house where the band was recording.
Leto did not respond to the BBC’s repeated requests for comment.
The actor and musician has faced similar allegations before. In 2025, nine women accused him of sexual impropriety in an Air Mail investigation. His representatives denied those allegations, describing them as “categorically false”.
The BBC also reported that it identified more than 120 allegations about Leto’s conduct toward women that have been posted online over the years.
Leto remains the frontman of ‘Thirty Seconds to Mars’, which is scheduled to tour mainland Europe and the UK next year, including shows at London’s O2 Arena and Manchester’s Co-op Live.
