May 30, (THEWILL) – Juventus have agreed to a plea bargain and reached an agreement with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), regarding the ongoing “salary manoeuvres” case.
The club had been facing investigations for false accounting, false financial statements, and market manipulation, which previously led to a deduction of 10 points due to violations related to capital gains. To avoid any further point deductions, Juventus has accepted a fine of €718,000 for their reported misdemeanours. By implication now, if they qualify, the club will be allowed to participate in European competitions.
Currently positioned in seventh place, Juventus is on track to qualify for the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa Conference League. FIGC president, Gabriel Gravina, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating that it was the “best result” for Serie A football. He stressed the importance of adhering to the rules and finding a moment of serenity to look toward the future.
By resolving all open FIGC sports proceedings, Juve’s aim is to achieve a definitive outcome, alleviate tension and instability, and enable the management, coach, and players to focus on sports activities and the overall planning of the upcoming season. Juventus will face Udinese in their final Serie A match, where a win, combined with favourable results elsewhere, could secure UEFA Europa League qualification.
Meanwhile, unlike the club, former president, Andrea Agnelli, did not accept the charges against him and is set to stand trial on June 15.
