May 01, (THEWILL) – Juventus could be set for a major reshuffle this summer, with reports monitored by THEWILL suggesting that current manager, Massimiliano Allegri, is being lined up for a director of football role at the club.
The Old Lady has struggled both on and off the field this season, with allegations of player value manipulation and capital gains misreporting leading to a 15-point deduction – which has since been temporarily revoked. On the pitch, the team is enduring a run of four games without a win and a less-than-impressive style of play, which has resulted in many fans calling for Allegri to be sacked.
The club is understood to be considering a move for Allegri to become their new director of football, which would form part of a new leadership group led by Gianluca Ferrero following Andrea Agnelli’s departure. Allegri is said to be open to the idea, recognising the opportunity to stay at the club and contribute to a much-needed squad rebuild.
The move could also address reported frustrations with Allegri from players like Dusan Vlahovic, who is said to be willing to leave the club if the Italian stays on as manager. Despite the poor form, Allegri has defended his players and refuted rumors of a dressing room revolt.
“When someone is 50-50, I leave him at home. I need healthy players on the bench” he explained as the reason some players have not made the bench. However, the future of Juventus remains uncertain, with many wondering whether the club will be able to turn its fortunes around and secure a place in European competition next season.
