May 01, (THEWILL) – Nigerian tech entrepreneur, Dozy Mmobuosi, has denied withdrawing his bid to purchase Sheffield United Football Club, the recently promoted English Premier League side.
Mmobuosi took to Twitter to make the announcement and stated that he intends to continue working with professionals to acquire the club, in addition to the £8.85 million already paid to United World. Mmobuosi also revealed that he had a positive meeting with the club’s chairman and CEO.
The billionaire went on to congratulate Sheffield United on their recent promotion back to the top flight. The team earned promotion after beating West Bromwich Albion 2-0 on Wednesday. The club had been relegated to the Championship two years ago, and despite a ninth-place finish in the 2019-20 season, they came in last in the following year.
In response to Sheffield United’s promotion, Mmobuosi tweeted: “A heartfelt toast to Sheffield United on your amazing promotion to the Premier League. The performance against West Brom is proof that dedication and hard work truly pay off. I look forward to witnessing your triumphs in the top flight.”
