July 22, (THEWILL) – Veteran Nollywood actor, Modestus Onyekwere, aka Kanayo O Kanayo, has revealed that his marriage has crashed.
The veteran movie star says he has been separated from his wife for close to four years.
He also claims that being in Lagos State contributed to his marriage crashing.
Speaking about marriage and divorce and what an average Igbo man thinks of the two concepts, he indicated that his knowledge of divorce only changed after relocating to Lagos.
He shared that a particular mentality thrives among young couples who meet, live, and choose to get married in Lagos, which is unhealthy for marriages.
He said that an average Igbo man dislikes divorce and that instead of walking out of a dangerous or challenging marriage, he would prefer to die in it.
Kanayo used to be married to Nneka Onyekwere. They tied the knot in 1999, although details about how they met remain undisclosed.
Their wedding was a grand affair, combining both white and traditional ceremonies.
They were married for over two decades and while it lasted, their union was free from controversy or scandal.
Together, they have four children: a girl and three boys.
