January 07, (THEWILL) – Tottenham striker Harry Kane moved one step closer to becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer after scoring the winner in their FA Cup match against Portsmouth on Saturday.
Kane’s clinical finish in the second half of the match puts him just one goal shy of Jimmy Greaves’ club record of 266 goals. The England captain has been in top form lately, scoring four times in his last four games and a total of 17 goals this season.
Despite the milestone within reach, Kane insists he is not letting the prospect of making history distract him. “I try to not think about it. Sometimes you can think too much,” Kane said post-match. “My mindset is to help the team and hopefully the goals will come.”
Tottenham’s assistant head coach, Cristian Stellini, also revealed that midfielder Yves Bissouma was a late withdrawal from the match due to an ankle injury, but is expected to be available for the club’s next match against Arsenal.
