March 11, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from a recent losing streak, comfortably defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Saturday.
The win, which saw Harry Kane score two goals, comes as a relief for Manager, Antonio Conte, whose position may have been in danger had the team failed to beat the struggling Forest side. Forest struggled throughout the game, with Tottenham scoring their first goal in the first half through a header from Kane after VAR struck off Richarlison’s effort.
Kane’s second came from the penalty spot after defender Joe Worral brought down Richarlison in the area. As no other goals came in the half, Forest attempted to regain momentum after half-time with the introduction of Andre Ayew and Emmanuel Dennis, but Tottenham continued to dominate the game, with Son Heung-min scoring the team’s third goal.
Forest managed to grab a consolation goal through Worrall but were unable to stop Spurs from taking full points. They now sit fourth, six points ahead of Liverpool and within a point of third-placed Manchester United, providing a much-needed boost to their season.
Meanwhile, Forest are now just three points clear of the relegation zone. Tottenham’s next game is against Southampton, while Forest will host Newcastle.
