May 29 (THEWILL) — US rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, is set to perform in the Netherlands after officials said there are no legal grounds to block his entry.
The 48-year-old is scheduled to hold two concerts on June 6 and June 8, 2026, at the GelreDome in Arnhem. The June 8 show also marks his birthday.
Dutch authorities made the decision despite criticism from lawmakers and Jewish groups who had called for the shows to be cancelled over his past antisemitic remarks.
Asylum and Migration Minister, Bart van den Brink, on Friday, May 29, stated that legal checks did not find enough grounds to deny him entry. He said clear legal reasons are needed to stop someone from entering the country.
Arnhem Mayor, Ahmed Marcouch, approved the concert permits, saying decisions must follow legal and public order rules, even if the artist’s past comments are controversial.
The shows will be Ye’s first major performances in Europe since 2014.
He has faced pushback in other countries, where some concerts were cancelled or blocked in the United Kingdom, France, and Poland.
