May 18, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the fringe players of his Anfield squad after they helped the Reds to a 2-1 victory over Southampton on Tuesday in the English Premier League.

With the Champions League final looming and Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Fabinho already sidelined with knocks, Klopp made nine changes to his starting eleven for the trip to St Mary’s.

It looked like it may backfire after Nathan Redmond’s early opening, but Liverpool dominated the game from start to finish, with goals from Takumi Minamino and Joel Matip to take the Premier League title fight to the last day of the season.

After the game, an ecstatic Klopp said: “I’m so happy with the performance, it’s quite touching. It’s like, wow! These boys! It’s like having Ferraris in the garage. I never had a group like this. Because we win most of the time, there is not a lot of things you can really argue about [for team selection].

Liverpool are only one point behind Manchester City heading into the last day of the season, and Klopp will need Pep Guardiola’s team to lose against Aston Villa for their quadruple dreams to stay alive.
