April 08, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has acknowledged that Arsenal serves as an example to follow when it comes to rebuilding a squad.
Liverpool’s performance this season has been below expectations and various weaknesses in the team have been exposed, highlighting the need to introduce fresh blood this summer. Klopp praised the work done by Mikel Arteta and Arsenal in transforming the team into genuine title contenders.
Klopp’s comments came ahead of Liverpool’s critical match against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. “Arsenal deserves [to be] where they are. I know people are asking for time for managers, but I really think Mikel deserved each minute he got there when it was not going incredibly well,” Klopp said while praising Arsenal’s smart recruitment strategy, which involved bringing in a few super important players.
According to Klopp, Liverpool cannot make too many changes to the squad but must make smart ones to improve. “We cannot make 24 changes and say ‘here we go’ – not even ten – but it is just that we have to make changes – smart changes – and then, we go again.”
Klopp expressly stated his belief that with intelligent recruitment, Liverpool has a chance to rebuild in a classy way and improve in the next season.
