April 08, (THEWILL) – Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is reportedly among the candidates being considered by Belgian club, Club Brugge.
The Pro League side is in search of a new permanent boss to replace Scott Parker, who was sacked last month. Solskjaer, who left United in November 2021, has turned down several offers to return to management since then. Brugge reached the last 16 of this season’s UEFA Champions League but were eliminated by Benfica.
While it is widely reported that Brugge may turn to Solskjaer, he is not their top choice. According to media sources in Belgium, Solskjaer’s compatriot, Ronny Deila, formerly of Celtic and New York City FC, is also under consideration, as well as former Bayern Munich assistant, Dino Toppmoller.
Solskjaer oversaw a period of stability at United, recording successive top-four finishes in his two full campaigns in charge, finishing second in the 2020/2021 campaign and also reaching the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2021. Following his departure from United, Solskjaer chose to remain in England and passed on advice to his interim successor, Ralf Rangnick, while watching his daughter play for United’s youth team.
However, the 50-year-old has since returned to Norway and has coached his son’s Under-14 team at Kristiansund. He has reportedly spent his time rewatching all 168 of his games in charge of United to learn from his mistakes and better himself.
