April 11, (THEWILL) – Vincent Kompany is leading the charge for the English Football League’s Championship Manager of the Season award.
The former Manchester City captain has been instrumental in guiding Burnley to promotion from the second tier at the first attempt. This follows their relegation from the English Premier League a year ago. Michael Carrick’s impressive performance as Middlesbrough’s manager and Mark Robins’ continued success with Coventry City have also been recognised in the nominations.
The winners in each category will be announced during the 2023 EFL Awards ceremony in London on Sunday, April 23. Stars in Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Coventry have also been nominated for the Championship’s Player of the Season award. Meanwhile, Kieran McKenna, Steven Schumacher, and Darren Moore have been shortlisted for League One nominations, and Paul Simpson, Richie Wellens, and Steve Evans are competing for the League Two Manager of the Season award.
The EFL Goal of the Season award will be determined by public vote on ITV, while Awards for Young Player of the Season will also be announced. The Teams of the Season will be revealed during the event, with a starting XI selected for each division. Barry Bannan, Aaron Collins, and Jonson Clarke-Harris are the three-man player shortlist for Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol Rovers, and Peterborough United, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bradford City’s Andy Cook, Northampton Town’s Sam Hoskins, and Stevenage’s Carl Piergianni are competing for the Player of the Season award in League Two.
