April 08, (THEWILL) — Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, has announced the reopening of his nightclub, Proxy Lagos, seven months after it was raided and shutdown by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Pretty Mike reflected on the challenges he faced following the raid, which coincided with the death of his father.
“Beyond the lights, the camera, the grand entrance, I’m still human and that event just broke me in ways that I’m still learning or trying to understand. I came back to rebuild Proxy Lagos, my dream, my passion, my hustle, my vision,” he said.
He described the raid as “a nightmare” that affected his team, clients, and brand. Speaking about the reopening, he added:
“Seven months ago, my world fell apart… But I am returning today with a heart full of gratitude… I am back, blessed, and rebuilding. Proxy has been cleared to reopen. Now I need you. Proxy is more than a nightclub. It’s a culture. It’s a vibe. It’s where Lagos comes alive.”
The nightclub was shut following an NDLEA raid in October 2025, during which over 100 people were arrested, including Pretty Mike and former reality TV star, Tuoyo Ideh.
Cartons of banned substances, including cannabis sativa (loud) and nitrous oxide (laughing gas), were recovered.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said operatives acted on intelligence about a planned “drug party.”
Pretty Mike and the club’s supervisor were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and allowing the premises to be used for illegal drug activities.
He was granted bail of N50 million by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
In January 2026, the court ordered the club to be unsealed, clearing the way for its reopening.
Proxy Lagos, located in Victoria Island, remains one of the city’s popular nightlife spots.
