SAN FRANCISCO, November 13, (THEWILL) – Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong has met with contractors handling the ‘Lalong Legacy Projects’ across the three senatorial districts of the State.
In a statement on Friday by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Makut Simon Macham said the meeting was called “to listen to the stakeholders on the progress of work and the challenges so far.”
The statement said the ‘Lalong Legacy Project’ was conceived to address the problems affecting citizens of the State.
The Governor, while reiterating his commitment to the ‘Legacy Projects’, said he inherited many uncompleted and abandoned projects. “Even this hall which we named after former First Lady Mrs. Victoria Gowon was uncompleted but we decided to complete it. If we can complete the projects left and abandoned by others, we cannot fail to complete the ones initiated by our administration”, he added.
He disclosed his intention to embark on an inspection tour of the projects sites and urged the contractors “to be up and doing as no excuses will be tolerated.”
Lalong warned the contractors to ensure that work is done according to specifications.
On the challenges of the projects, one of the contractors, Engr. Lawson Ngoa said the delay in executing the projects was occasioned by “COVID-19 and funding which have now been resolved by the IPO.”
Some of the subcontractors also said that inflation and high cost of materials affect the projects.
