March 26, (THEWILL) – On Sunday, Leeds United reopened their Elland Road Stadium, after being forced to close it due to a security threat.
As THEWILL previously reported, West Yorkshire Police had advised the English Premier League club to shut down the premises on Friday, after a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the threat. The police said that enquiries were still ongoing.
The threat had been made through social media on Thursday, prompting the police to take action. However, Leeds United were quick to reassure their fans that the situation was under control, stating that they had been advised to reopen the stadium effective immediately.
The club apologised for any inconvenience and thanked the public for their support. Leeds are currently in 14th place in the EPL and are set to play against Arsenal on April 1, after the international break. Their next home game is scheduled for April 4, against Nottingham Forest.
The reopening of Elland Road comes as a relief for the club and its supporters, who can now look forward to the upcoming fixtures.
