October 03, (THEWILL) – Crystal Palace came back from a 2-0 deficit to earn a point against Leicester in Sunday’s English Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park, London.
The visitors took the lead in the first half thanks to an Iheanacho goal and another by Jamie Vardy. However, a pair of inspired second-half substitutions by Patrick Vieira earned Palace a well-deserved point thanks to goals from Michael Olise and Jeffrey Schlupp.
Palace made a strong start to the game, putting Kasper Schmeichel to the test several times in the first quarter as Wilfried Zaha stormed forward to great success and applause from an appreciative crowd.
The visitors appeared to be suffering from the effects of their Europa League exploits in Poland earlier in the week, but they were given a gift at the half-hour mark when Joachim Andersen was caught in possession by Iheanacho in a dangerous area, before the Nigerian raced through to slot under Vicente Guaita.
When the Foxes added a second, the hosts had only just begun to regain their composure. This time, Joel Ward was caught infield before Vardy was released inside the penalty area by Harvey Barnes to double the Foxes’ lead with his finish into the bottom corner.
Palace, on the other hand, rallied in the second half. On the hour mark, substitute Olise halved the deficit after Odsonne Edouard struck the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area.
Vieira brought in Schlupp for Conor Gallagher and after a tussle inside the Leicester penalty area, the former Leicester man headed home Palace’s equaliser.
