Aston Villa vs spurs

October 03, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur won their second game on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Aston Viila at Tottenham Stadium, on Sunday.

Spurs took the lead just before the half-hour mark, despite having a poor start to the game. Son Heung-min received a pass from Pierre-Emile Hojberg, who bombed towards the edge of the box and curled a precise shot past Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal.

In a first half where neither side created many chances, the goal proved enough to keep Spurs in the lead at half-time.

The second half started and Villa showed more spark. This paid off in the 68th minute of the game when Ollie Watkins scored from close range to level the score.

However, Spurs players responded with decisive play and intention, with Son in the thick of things. In the 71st minute, Spurs retook the lead, albeit in a fortuitous manner. Son outpaced his defender and flashed a cross across goal that Lucas Moura met at the far post and shot into an open net off Matt Targett.

Although Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Kane both squandered fantastic chances to seal the three points, Spurs saw out the last minutes to earn a crucial three points, ending their poor run of form.
