September 1, (THEWILL) – Liverpool have completed the signing of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich, with the Netherlands international joining the Reds after just one season with the German champions.

Liverpool have been keen to strengthen their midfield options this summer, especially after the departures of experienced duo Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have already arrived at Anfield, and Gravenberch is the latest addition.

There were suggestions in April that Liverpool were keeping tabs on Gravenberch’s situation at Bayern. The 21-year-old was frustrated by a lack of minutes in his debut season after joining from Ajax. Later that month, it emerged the midfielder had asked Bayern to consider potential summer exits.

Liverpool maintained interest in Gravenberch throughout the window before pushing to sign him in the final days. A fee was agreed with Bayern on Thursday before the transfer was wrapped up late on deadline day.

Some Liverpool fans had feared Bayern’s failure to land Joao Palhinha from Fulham could complicate Gravenberch’s move. However, the German club were still content to let the midfielder depart for Merseyside.
