June 09, (THEWILL) –Â The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year 2021/2022 has been released and, although Manchester City won the League, Liverpool dominated the selection.
Six Liverpool players, including goalkeeper Alisson Becker and defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, were chosen from a pool of EPL players that had a remarkable season.
Veteran midfielder Thiago Alcantara is also included in the side for his distribution and control skills, while exciting forward combo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are named up front, which comes as no surprise. Salah was also named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for 2022.
Three Manchester City players, Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva, make the team, as did ex-Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger. Despite Manchester United’s poor season, Cristiano Ronaldo was named in the starting lineup after scoring 18 goals in his first season back in England.
