Mane

June 08, (THEWILL) – Liverpool have rejected a revised offer from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane of £23.5 million, with the possibility of an increase to £30 million.

Bayern’s second bid was quickly rejected, with the club insisting on a guaranteed sum in excess of £40 million. In this second bid, Bayern proposed to pay up to £30 million if Bayern won the Champions League and the Senegalese star won the Ballon d’Or in the next three seasons, which Anfield executives thought was ridiculous.

The Bavarian giants made a £21 million offer for Mane last week, with the possibility of an increase to £25 million, but their second offer only guaranteed Liverpool an extra £2.5 million.

Mane’s contract has only one year left to expire, so Liverpool must cash in this summer or risk losing him for free next year, if he does not sign a new deal with the English Premier League side at Anfield.

During his hugely successful stint at Liverpool, the Senegal international, who came from Southampton for £34 million in June 2016, has won six titles: the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
