September 25, (THEWILL) – Liverpool defender, Kostas Tsimikas, has signed a new long-term contract, the English Premier League club announced on Monday, even though the length of the deal was not disclosed.
The 27-year-old Greece international moved to Anfield from Olympiakos in 2020 on a five-year contract worth £11 million. Since then, he has made 63 appearances and provided 12 assists, primarily as backup to first-choice left-back, Andrew Robertson.
Tsimikas expressed delight at extending his stay on Merseyside. “I feel very glad to be here to extend my contract. I feel like all the sacrifices I did and other things, the work I put in, everything pays off,” he told the club’s website.
So far this season, the defender has made one substitute appearance in the English Premier League against Bournemouth and started last week’s Europa League victory over LASK in Austria.
With his long-term future now secured, Tsimikas will be hoping to pick up more game time as Liverpool compete on multiple fronts over the coming months.
