August 05, (THEWILL) – Manchester City have officially announced the signing of centre-back, Josko Gvardiol, from RB Leipzig.
The deal is reported to be an initial fee of £77.5 million. Gvardiol’s medical was completed over the weekend in Manchester, as confirmed by Pep Guardiola. The Croatian defender inked a five-year contract with City, making him their second summer signing after Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
After signing, Gvardiol stated: “I have always dreamed of one day playing in England, and to be doing so now with Manchester City – after the season they have just had – is a real honour for me.” He praised the team’s quality, especially after their impressive Treble-winning season, and his eagerness to work with Pep Guardiola, whom he considers the best coach in football.
