May 31, (THEWILL) – Andy O’Boyle has been named as Manchester United’s new Deputy Director of Football, according to the Old Trafford club.
O’Boyle is expected to quit his position as the English Premier League’s head of elite performance this summer to join United.
The former Liverpool manager will assist Director of Football, John Murtough in player recruiting for the men’s, women’s, and junior teams, as well as ensuring that the club’s current players have access to the finest possible development systems.
O’Boyle, a lifetime United supporter, was formerly a youth coach with the club, where he worked with young players including Marcus Rashford.
Speaking with United’s official website, he said: “I am thrilled to be rejoining Manchester United at such an exciting time for the club, as the first team prepares for a fresh start under Erik ten Hag, and the Academy and women’s teams go from strength to strength.”
