March 18, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have announced a five per cent increase in season ticket prices for the 2025/2026 campaign, despite calls from supporter groups for costs to be frozen. The club confirmed on Monday that while tickets for under-16s will remain unchanged, a new categorisation system for non-season ticket holders will be introduced, allowing different pricing structures for high-profile matches.
The decision follows recent protests at Old Trafford after the club eliminated concessions for children and over-65s in November, with remaining tickets priced at £66. This marks the third consecutive season of five per cent increases, coming after an 11-year period during which prices remained static.
Chief Executive, Omar Berrada, stated the club understood the importance of fan backing but needed to implement a “fair and reasonable” pricing package. Co-owner Jim Ratcliffe recently claimed in interviews that United would have exhausted their funds by the end of last year without cost-cutting measures and ticket price adjustments, noting cumulative losses of £410 million over seven years.
The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust acknowledged that while the increase was “less than many feared,” they had argued for a complete freeze, pointing out that other clubs, including Premier League leaders Liverpool, have already announced ticket freezes for next season. The trust credited “enormous amounts of dialogue” and public pressure for helping to limit the increase.
Additional changes to the ticketing structure include plans to convert some general admission seats near the dugouts into premium-priced hospitality seats. This announcement comes shortly after the club revealed intentions to leave Old Trafford for a new 100,000-capacity stadium estimated to cost £2 billion.
