November 11, (THEWILL) – Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has received a one-match touchline ban after picking up his third yellow card of the 2023/2024 English Premier League season.
The Dutchman was cautioned during United’s 1-0 home win against Luton Town on Saturday, after remonstrating with referee Graham Scott, over the awarding of a throw-in. Ten Hag will have to watch from the stands when the Red Devils travel to Goodison Park to face Everton after the international break on November 19.
The former Ajax boss was previously booked for touchline indiscretions during defeats away to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal earlier this campaign. When asked how United will adapt without him on the touchline at Everton, Ten Hag said: “We have a very competent coaching staff and they will take over.”
Despite Ten Hag’s frustrations, United held on to beat Luton thanks to a Victor Lindelof winner, returning to winning ways after their UEFA Champions League loss at Copenhagen.
The EPL has cracked down on manager misconduct this season, with Pep Guardiola, also serving a one-match ban.
