May 13, (THEWILL) — A man accused of stealing hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty in an Atlanta court.
Kelvin Evans pleaded guilty on Tuesday, May 12, to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass.
The charges were linked to a July 2025 car break-in involving members of Beyoncé’s team.
The court sentenced Evans to five years, with two years to be spent in prison and the remaining three years on probation.
As part of the plea deal, he was also ordered to stay away from the victims and the parking garage where the theft happened.
The incident took place days before Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour stop in Atlanta.
According to police reports, choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue returned to find that two suitcases had been stolen from their rented Jeep Wagoneer after the rear window was smashed.
Investigators said the stolen hard drives contained watermarked tracks, unreleased Beyoncé music, show plans, and past and future setlists.
Laptops, AirPods headphones, luxury clothing, and designer accessories were also stolen.
Authorities used tracking data from the stolen devices and surveillance footage to identify Evans, who was arrested weeks later.
Prosecutors said cameras captured a red Hyundai linked to Evans near the scene of the break-in.
Reports say the stolen hard drives and some other items have still not been recovered.
Beyoncé has not publicly commented on the case.
