June 30, (THEWILL) – Progress has been made in the long-running attempt by English Premier League side Manchester United to bring the young English talent Jadon Sancho from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford as the two clubs have agreed a deal worth an initial €85 million for the player.
The details left to sort out will be between United and Sancho for personal terms ahead of a medical to complete the move with Sancho expected to sign a five-year contract until 2026, at the earliest.
The 21-year-old Sancho is currently part of the Three Lions’ squad prosecuting England’s participation at the ongoing continental competition, the Euro 2020, where they have qualified for the quarter-finals.
Manchester United have now met Dortmund’s valuation of their key player, which was the stumbling block in United’s pursuit of Sancho from last year’s summer transfer season. This agreement between the sides may have informed the story making the rounds that Sancho was already house-hunting in Manchester.
Since moving to Germany from neighbouring club Manchester City, Sancho has scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for the German heavyweights, and helped them win the German Cup last season, finishing the 2020-21 season on a hot streak of 13 goals in his last 21 appearances.
He has not been favoured much at the summer’s continental competition with just one six-minute substitute appearance for Gareth Southgate’s England in the three Euro 2020 group matches. He was meanwhile an unused substitute against Germany in the round of 16 2-0 victory.
