Martinez -inter

November 30, (THEWILL) — Inter Milan moved to within one point of Serie A leaders AC Milan following their win over struggling Pisa at Arena Garibaldi. Captain Lautaro Martinez netted both goals in the second half to deliver three vital points for the Nerazzurri.

The home side created several promising moments during the match. Gabriele Piccinini fired just off target approaching the half-hour, whilst M’Bala Nzola wasted a clear chance on the counter in the 63rd minute, pulling his shot wide when well placed.

Inter capitalised on those missed opportunities six minutes later. Substitute Pio Esposito provided the assist for Martinez, who fired past Pisa goalkeeper Simone Scuffet to open the scoring.

The Argentine striker added his second with seven minutes remaining, converting Nicolo Barella’s delivery at the far post. Martinez came close to completing his hat-trick moments later but struck the woodwork.

The defeat left Pisa in the relegation zone, whilst Inter bounced back from their 1-0 reverse against Milan at San Siro the previous weekend. The victory keeps the reigning champions firmly in contention at the top of the table.
