February 19, (THEWILL) – Shooting Stars and Lobi Stars played to an entertaining 2-2 draw in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Matchday 25 fixture at Adamasingba Stadium on Wednesday. The home side, currently second in the league standings, faced a determined Lobi Stars team fighting to escape the relegation zone from their 20th position.

The opening exchanges saw Shooting Stars dominate possession, taking a deserved lead in the 18th minute from the boots of Joshua Akpan after creating numerous opportunities. Their advantage did not last long, however, as Lobi Stars demonstrated their fighting spirit by equalising in the 35th minute.

The first half concluded with Ossy Martins scoring his second goal to give the visitors the lead at the interval. Action intensified after the interval with the hosts finding the net once more through Sodiq Ibrahim. Shooting Stars controlled the midfield areas but found themselves vulnerable to Lobi Stars’ counter-attacking strategy.

Despite late pressure from both sides, neither could find a winning goal, resulting in a point apiece that maintains Shooting Stars’ lofty position while giving Lobi Stars scant hope in their battle against demotion.

The statistical context of this result reflects the broader narrative of both teams’ 2024/2025 campaigns. Shooting Stars have now scored 23 goals across their 25 matches, while Lobi Stars have managed 18 goals but conceded 29 times. The draw leaves both teams with work to do in the remaining fixtures of the 2024/2025 season.
