April 15, (THEWILL) – Kylian Mbappe made history as he became Paris Saint-Germain’s top scorer in Ligue 1, scoring his 139th goal to overtake Edinson Cavani’s previous record.

The forward played a crucial role in PSG’s 3-1 win against Lens, who had to play with ten men after Salis Abdul Samed’s dismissal. Further goals from Vitinha and Lionel Messi helped secure the win for PSG, who now have a nine-point lead over Lens with only seven games remaining.

Despite a slow start, the game turned in PSG’s favour when Abdul Samed was shown a straight red for a bad tackle on Achraf Hakimi’s ankle in the 19th minute. Mbappe took advantage of the situation and scored a historic goal in the 31st minute. Vitinha then followed suit, with Messi burying the ball past the Lens goalkeeper to seal the victory for PSG in the 40th minute.

Although Lens were awarded a penalty and managed to score through Przemyslaw Frankowski, they were unable to mount a comeback. With the win, PSG now holds all the cards in the title race as they head into the season’s final stretch.

PSG will play Angers next at the Stade Raymond-Kopa on Friday, while Lens will face Monaco on Saturday
