May 16, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappe, has revealed that he is close to announcing his future plans, as the world awaits his decision on whether he will remain at PSG or make a summer move to Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old is one of several high-profile players whose contracts expire this summer, and his future has dominated sports page headlines for the past 18 months.
La Liga giants Real Madrid are confident he will join them at the Santiago Bernabeu as their star summer signing while PSG are similarly confident that Mbappe will sign a new contract and extend his stay in Paris.
Mbappe stated that the wait is almost over to find out where he will be playing in 2022/23 when speaking at the UNFP awards, where he was crowned the best player in Ligue 1 for the third consecutive season.
“It will be known very soon, it’s almost done,” Mbappe teased. “My decision is made, yes, almost. Why was I so slow? You have to respect all parties. I know that people expected a lot from me. That’s normal. I’m in a hurry too. But it’s not only about me.
PSG’s stance has been very different, with various club officials expressing their confidence that Mbappe will choose to stay in Paris.
Real Madrid’s position has been very different for most of the year, refusing to comment on any kind of Mbappe speculation because they strongly believe he will be heading to the Spanish capital this summer.
Indeed, the Parisians intend to not only keep Mbappe this summer, but also to add more world-class talent to their already strong group, with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba being one of the players associated with a summer transfer.
Despite Mauricio Pochettino’s conclusion that he and Kylian Mbappe have a ‘100%’ chance of staying at PSG next season, Zinedine Zidane might be the manager.
