June 17, (THEWILL) – Irish UFC fighter, Conor McGregor, has resurfaced on social media after refuting allegations of sexual assault against him in the United States.
Denying the claims vehemently, the former two-weight champion took to Instagram late on Friday, to extend birthday wishes to his father, Tony. The controversial athlete shared two pictures of his father, one showcasing him donning camouflage attire while holding a rifle, and the other showing him in pose after hitting a golf ball into the sea.
McGregor’s legal team responded to the sexual assault accusations on Thursday, asserting the falsity of the allegations and expressing McGregor’s determination not to succumb to intimidation. Following the release of a video by TMZ showing McGregor and the complainant together, his lawyer, Barbara R. Llanes, stated that the claimant’s attorney had altered the narrative.
Llanes further mentioned that McGregor welcomes the investigation, firmly believing it will expose the falsehood of the allegations against him. She also accused the claimant’s counsel of attempting a “shakedown” after their monetary demand went unanswered.
THEWILL recalls that the woman, who claims to have been assaulted by McGregor, has now lodged a police report and sent legal correspondence to the Irish fighter, the American NBA, and the Miami Heat basketball team, with the alleged attack having taken place after a game between Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.
According to the woman’s account, she was forced into a men’s toilet in the arena, where McGregor and another man awaited her. In her legal letters, she alleges that McGregor emerged from a disabled toilet and initiated physical contact with her, which escalated to the point where she was compelled to perform a sexual act. She managed to escape by resisting and elbowing him, eventually fleeing the scene. Llanes denied all of the woman’s claims on behalf of McGregor.
