June 17, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich President, Herbert Hainer, has voiced his disapproval of Barcelona head coach Xavi’s public declaration of interest in midfielder Joshua Kimmich.
While Bayern has consistently expressed their determination to retain Kimmich, sources monitored by THEWILL have revealed that the player’s representatives have engaged in discussions with various European clubs, including Barcelona, to gauge their interest.
Xavi openly discussed his admiration for Kimmich when asked about Barcelona’s potential pursuit of the German midfielder last month. In a recent interview, Xavi said: “He is a super top player, who understands the game in a fantastic way. If there is an open door, there will be a negotiation with Bayern.”
Hainer, however, expressed his frustration with Xavi’s conduct during an interview of his own in Germany, saying: “First of all, Xavi was an excellent player and I have great respect for Barcelona. But, I don’t understand why they’re openly and aggressively ‘flirting’ with our player. Joshua Kimmich is an absolute cornerstone for us.”
Hainer confirmed Bayern’s intention to keep Kimmich, pointing to the player’s leadership qualities and past success with the club, while also impressing his importance in their future plans.
