January 19, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has issued a strong warning to bloggers and online commentators against spreading false and damaging claims about her and her family, saying she will no longer tolerate defamatory reports.
Her statement followed her decision to withdraw the defamation charges filed against Nigerian TikToker, Eedie Bliss, whose detention in December 2025 sparked public outrage.
The controversy began when Eedie Bliss shared a video alleging that Mercy Johnson’s husband bought a house for a pregnant mistress. The TikToker further claimed that the actress was involved in actions that led to the loss of the pregnancy.
In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, Mercy said she decided to drop the case after receiving numerous appeals from members of the public.
“I am dropping my case with this girl out of respect for people, and my husband, whom I respect and love,” she said.
Despite withdrawing the charges, the actress stressed that she would no longer overlook attacks on her family and may pursue legal action where necessary.
“I had plans later this year for some things I had outlined to do, and I’m guessing perhaps making trouble or court cases is going to be a part of them because some people just won’t leave me alone, my family alone,” she said.
Mercy also spoke about the effect of online rumours on her children, revealing that they are being bullied at school.
“I have teenagers who are in school, who are being bullied in school because of the things that you write. There are parents telling their kids not to let my kids touch their school bag because I’m a witch. What’s wrong with you people?”
She also criticised anonymous blogs for spreading unverified stories and warned that anyone making allegations would be required to prove them.
While confirming that the case against Eedie Bliss has been dropped, Mercy made it clear that other defamation cases would still be pursued through legal channels.
The actress concluded by urging bloggers and social media users to stop dragging her family into false narratives.
“Please leave me alone. Leave my name and my husband’s name out of your mouth. I’m in my lane… I don’t know how that bothers you,” she said.
Eedie Bliss was released from detention on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
