February 19, (THEWILL) — Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony held on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
She is the first Malaysian actress to be given a star.
The 64-year-old Oscar-winning actress became emotional during the ceremony as she addressed friends, family, and fans.
Yeoh said: “Thank you for showing up and for standing beside me. For being part of my life in the quiet moments, not just the bright ones. Your presence is everything.”
She added:
“To the fans around the world, to my Yeoh family — my brother and [his] beautiful wife surprised me, they came all the way from Malaysia yesterday. My husband, who is not here because I gave him permission to go to India, and my Todt family, thank you all for surrounding me with love, for being my safe harbor, and for helping me stay true to my own North Star.”
Several stars and directors attended the ceremony, including Ang Lee and Jon M. Chu, who worked with her on projects such as ‘Crouching Tiger’, ‘Hidden Dragon’, and ‘Wicked’. Actors Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, and Ke Huy Quan were also present.
Yeoh is known worldwide for her roles in ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’, and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’.
She also paid tribute to her parents. Her father died in 2014, and she told her mother, “This is our star.”
In 2023, Yeoh won the Academy Award for Best Actress for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, becoming the first Asian woman to win in that category and the first Malaysian to win an Oscar.
