November 08, (THEWILL) — AC Milan surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, missing the opportunity to move to the summit of Serie A. The visitors appeared in control after racing ahead early in the match but were pegged back by a determined home side.
Alexis Saelemaekers opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, firing into the bottom-left corner from outside the penalty area. The Belgian winger then won a spot-kick which Rafael Leao converted to double Milan’s advantage, leaving the Rossoneri firmly in command during the opening period.
Parma reduced the deficit before half-time when Adrian Bernabe curled a superb effort into the top-left corner past Mike Maignan. The hosts maintained their momentum after the interval, with Patrick Cutrone and Bernabe both threatening before captain Enrico Delprato headed home from close range following Sascha Britschgi’s delivery.
Both teams created opportunities to claim victory in the closing stages. Maignan produced an excellent save to keep out Hernani’s free-kick, whilst Christian Pulisic and Saelemaekers wasted clear-cut chances for the visitors.
Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan had to settle for a single point, leaving them unable to capitalise on results elsewhere in the title race. Parma earned a valuable draw through their spirited second-half performance after falling two goals behind.
